Overview

In Windows 7 upgrade kit, 2 DVDs are included

1) Windows 7 Assistant DVD - Applications, Utilities and Drivers Installation,
Installation guides and Readme
 
2) Windows 7 Upgrade DVD - Windows 7 Upgrade Installation Media


Minimum hardware requirements for Windows 7


Processor speed
: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
Memory(RAM : 1 GB (32-bit)/ 2 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card : Support DirectX 9 graphics device with 128 MB of graphics memory (to enable the Aero theme)
HDD free space : 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit)/ 20 GB (64-bit)
Optical drive : DVD-R/W drive


Pre-installation Check

Backup all your important data and save them to a safe location before the upgrade.
Below are some possible ways to backup your data:
• Windows Backup, or other backup software
• Copy data to a network folder
• Burn the data to a CD or DVD
• Backup to an external hard disk

Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 requires a clean installation thus all files, settings and programs in the
computer will be removed after installation. You must backup your files and setting before proceeding so as to and
restore your files and setting after the upgrade.

Your computer should be powered on with AC power before the upgrade.

Ensure the logged-in account has the administer rights before the upgrade.

Wire-connect your computer to the Internet during the upgrade.


Upgrade Procedures


1)


Complete the following preparatory steps for Windows 7 upgrade:

1.1  Backup all important hard disk data

1.2  Upgrade your BIOS

1.3  Uninstall / Upgrade all incompatible drivers and applications

   Please backup your Omnipass password for fingerprint registration.

2) There are two options for upgrade to Windows 7.

2.1  Upgrade
This option upgrades Windows Vista to Windows 7. User preferences like applications, files, settings and programs are retained
as they were in Windows Vista. NOTE: Actual installation time varies depending on number of applications and settings to be
migrated to Windows 7.

2.2  Custom (Advanced)
This option installs a new, or “clean” copy of Windows 7. All users’ applications, files, settings and programs installed previously
will be removed thus please backup all data in external media.

3) Install / upgrade all necessary applications and drivers.
Please click “Software Installation” on the Windows 7 Assistant DVD to obtain the drivers for your models and follow the instructions for
installation or upgrade.


Hardware Requirements


Not all Windows 7 features are suitable for use on all Windows 7 compatible PCs. All Windows 7 compatible PCs will run the core
experience of Windows Vista at the minimum, such as organizing and finding information, security, and reliability. Some features
available in premium editions of Windows 7 e.g. the new Windows Aero™ user interface, require advance or additional hardware.

Installation Notice


Installation of some Windows 7 products may require you to format your hard drive. You must backup your files and settings prior
to the installation or they will be erased. Fujitsu is not liable for any loss of data as a result of this installation. If you have upgraded
to Windows 7 and wishes to re-install (if permitted by your license terms) to the Windows Vista product previously running , you will
need to un-install Windows 7 and re-install Windows Vista using a recovery solution for the Windows Vista product. Certain upgrades
may not allow the End User Customer to retain applications, files and settings as they were in the previous installed edition of Windows.
