Backup hard disk data
All users are recommended to accomplish a full backup in the event of an upgrade failure. Backup documents files or applications to an external media or another partition of the hard drive.
Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific Ltd is not liable for any data loss for the upgrade process so it is advisable that you perform a backup of your data before the upgrade.
User may use Windows Easy Transfer (WET) to backup all files and settings.

BIOS Upgrade – You must upgrade to the latest BIOS for the Windows 7 Upgrade
Note: Please ensure that your computer is connected to AC power throughout the upgrade.

Insert the Windows 7 Assistant DVD, click “Software Installation” and select the model of the system. Click on the BIOS link and run the
FlashAid program.

The program will then check your BIOS version and prompt you to confirm update.
Click “No” to cancel update if your BIOS is of the latest version.

If it is necessary to upgrade the BIOS, follow the instructions carefully.
Read all notes before updating your BIOS.

Verify that all preparation is done and click “Next” to start the update process.

Do not disrupt the power supply or use the system during the BIOS update.
System will reboot after BIOS update is completed.

Application Uninstallation / Upgrade
Incompatible applications need to be uninstalled or upgrade before proceeding to Windows 7 upgrade.
Please uninstall / upgrade the following applications / drivers / utilities before proceeding to the Windows 7 upgrade.

* Omnipass v6.003c or before users need to register the fingerprint again after the upgrade.
Please backup your Omnipass password for fingerprint registration.

Please click “Apps Uninstallation/Upgrade” and then click “run” to start.

Follow the instruction to uninstall.
After the uninstallation is completed, please ensure that the applications have been successfully removed by checking under “Programs and Features”.

If uninstallation does not start after you have clicked “run”, please uninstall the above software manually.
Proceed to “Programs and Features” to uninstall the software listed above.
(Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Switch to “Classic View” -> Programs and Features )
Select the uninstall target and click “Uninstall / Change” to start the uninstallation process.
Remarks: For “Intel PROSet/Wireless Software”, Click “Change” to start uninstalling.
After the software uninstallation, reboot the system.
Should a driver installation notice box appear (as shown in the diagram below), select cancel and proceed to step 4.

Windows 7 Online Compatibility Check
After completing the uninstallation, insert the Windows 7 Upgrade Disc and click “Check Compatibility Online”. You will be directed to Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor download page. Follow the instructions to download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. A report of all known system, device and program compatibility issues and the recommended solutions will be provided after running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Removing drivers and applications that have compatibility issues with Windows 7
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will generate a report of the devices and applications that have compatibility issues with Windows 7. Simply follow the recommended solutions to uninstall the drivers, applications or update the device drivers before the upgrade. Please note that some (bundled) applications do not work on Windows 7. |
