About Application of Modified Firmware (for Windows) for DVD-R/RW


The notes and the procedures for the firmware update utility of DVD-R/RW drive are as follows.
Please read the notes carefully, and use the firmware update utility.
Fujitsu takes no responsibility for any damage that may result from using this utility except the following procedure.


Notes
  1. When using this utility, following conditions for the use of it must be followed.
  2. If you cannot follow these conditions, do not use this utility.
  3. You can use this utility only for the relevant unit.
  4. This utility cannot be redistributed.
  5. You may not modify, reverse engineer, or reassemble this utility.
  6. You may not alter any copyright notice for this utility.
  7. This utility can be only applicable to Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional.
  8. You must log on to your PC as an administrator and run this utility.
  9. You must terminate all application programs before you run this utility. Also, when this utility is running, do not reset your PC, turn your PC off, activate other application program, or terminate OS. Otherwise, DVD-R/RW drive may break down.
  10. You must copy this utility to HDD before using it.
  11. You must remove a disc from DVD-R/RW drive if it is in the drive.
  12. If "time setting in System standby" or "time period in System hibernates" in Power Options are changed, you must change them to "None".
  13. When this utility is run, it is necessary to connect AC adapter.
  14. When this utility is run, it is necessary to change the system configuration, but it will be changed automatically, so please be aware that the system will be restarted after that.

Procedures for the Firmware Update Utility

1. Copy this utility (program name: SDR6012-1F34) to HDD.
2. Double-click the icon of copied utility. (Fig. 1)

3. The conditions and notes for the use of this utility are displayed. You must confirm them. If you agree to them, click "Agree". If you do not agree to them, click "Not Agree". When you click "Not Agree", this utility terminates. (Fig. 2)

[In the case when the firmware update is not needed]
If the message as Fig.3 is displayed, it is unnecessary to update the firmware. Click "OK" to terminate this utility.

4. If the system is configured so that this utility cannot be available, the message as Fig. 4 is
displayed. If you click "OK", the system configuration will be changed automatically, and then the
system will be restarted automatically. This utility will start again automatically after restart.

[In the case when the packet writing software etc is installed]
After restart, you may be asked whether it should be restarted with setting "automatic notification of insertion" at ON, or not. Click "No".

5. After the system is restarted, the message as Fig. 5 is displayed, so you must terminate all other
applications, and then, click "OK".

6. The main window is displayed as Fig.6. Click "Update Start"

[In the case when you want to cancel the update]
Click "CANCEL". This utility will terminate without the firmware updated. And then, the system configuration will be restored, and the system will be restarted.

7. The message as Fig. 7 is displayed. Click "OK".

8. The main window is displayed as Fig. 8, and an approximate time to be required is displayed.

9. When this utility is finished, the message as Fig.9 is displayed. Click "OK". The system
configuration will be restored, and the system will be restarted. After the system is restarted, the
firmware update is completed.

Error Message
[In the case when an error message is displayed]
After turning your PC off and on, please run this utility again according to "Procedures for the Firmware Update Utility".
