My
LifeBook S series seems to overheat quickly. The manual shows
three slots in the back as vents for the fan. My vents are closed
and sealed. The new S series has three openings for the fan
to blow the heat from the unit. Is my unit faulty or has the
new S series been improved?
A3
This model
is designed without a fan because the CPU can take the heat.
The LifeBook incorporates a heat sink feature whereby heat is
conducted to the top of the CPU and dissipated over a surface
area, hence the system feels warm. The user manual shows other
models with similar features where the CPU has less heat sink
on top of the CPU and therefore require a fan to cool down the
system.
I
have a LifeBook S-4510. May I know how to enable the function
that automatically suspends my notebook when I close it, and
resume its previous function when I open the LCD screen? Also
would the CD-R/RW function well if I use Windows XP? Will I
be able to use the same driver & software?
A4
For
this function, please check your 'Power Options' from the 'Control
Panel', and 'Settings'. When the LCD screen is closed, the system
will be suspended or go into 'Hibernate' mode. From the BIOS
under 'Power' section, check that the 'Resume' option is on
when opening the LCD screen.
For the CD/R-RW, no driver is needed
for the CD-R/RW drive when using the default Windows XP 'CD-Recorder'
feature to write on the CD-ROM disk. The CD-R/RW application
bundled with your S-4510 cannot support Windows XP and you
should not attempt to install it. For more information, please
refer to Microsoft's website. In addition, you can go to www.roxio.com
for CD-R/RW application information update.
