How can I display
the LifeBook video output to an external monitor (CRT), or to
both the internal screen and an external monitor?
A1
Connect your monitor's
cable to the external VGA SVGA port (at the rear of the system)
and boot (start) system. Press the FN key on your keyboard (located
at the lower left corner of your keyboard) and press function
key F10 simultaneously, press both FN and the F10 keys again.
Try "toggling" the video output destinations by pressing these
two keys simultaneously. Pressing these keys will toggle the
video output destination between the LCD mode and the CRT mode.
To leave your video output to a setting other than to the LifeBook
LCD, check your owners manual. Simultaneous internal/external
display is only supported in the LCD panel's default resolution.
The external display device (monitor, LCD projector/ panel)
must be capable of displaying the same resolution as your LCD
display panel's default resolution. To use the LifeBook's with
internal/external display mode, the external display device
(monitor or LCD projector/panel) must support at least 800x600
resolution of which your notebook supports.
How
do I remove the one inch black border around my LifeBook display
to view full screen?
A2
Incorrect settings
of your video resolution or the use of an incorrect video driver
causes the one-inch black border. This is to control the Display
menu of the Windows Control Panel. Drag slider in Desktop Area
or Screen area to RIGHT, you can change the output resolution
of the video card to match your LCD's maximum resolution 800x600
or 1024x768from Control Panel.
If your resolution option is still limited to 640x480 or
800x600 with 16 colors, you have to reinstall the Video drivers
using the Software Drivers CD that bundle with the system.
Note: DOS-based applications, or games in the
MS-DOS mode, will default to a limited resolution of 640x480
pixels. To overcome this DOS-limited display resolution, you
can force the display to stretch the image to fill the entire
screen by enabling Compensation Mode or Display Stretching.
Check your Fujitsu PC user's guide for information on enabling
the Compensation Mode or Display Stretching. The Compensation
Mode and Display Stretching options may not appear on some
models of the LifeBook Series.
When
using a screen resolution of 640x480 a black border appears.
How do I remove the black border?
A3
The Video driver should
be set to ATI. Run Setup to install the Video Driver, and be
sure to use the driver provided on the CD. In the Device Manager
under Display Adapters find "Rage Mobility PCI (English)".
After installation, restart your system and the resolution will
be set to 800x 600.
Is
it not possible to adjust the screen size? For example, by changing
the adaptor or driver?
A4
This is the specification
of the SVGA TFT screen installed. Alternatively you can set
the monitor type to Plug N Play and then you can adjust it to
1024x768, but it will then be in Virtual Mode and the screen
will need scrolling to be fully viewed.
I
am particularly concerned about the variation of brightness
on my TFT LCD display - bright at the bottom and dark at the
top of screen. I have tried changing to different background/patterns
as well as the angle of the LCD panel, but to no avail.
A7
The LCD panel colour
variation is quite subjective. The only way to tell if the display
is functioning properly is having a visual inspection conducted
by a qualified service engineer at your the nearest service
centre.
What
is the TFT 15" monitor driver (http://www.fujitsu-pc-sia.com/techsupp/addondrv.htm)
for?Is it meant for the LifeBook monitor?
A8
This is the driver for
an external 15" TFT monitor that is sold separately. It
can be used as an external display for the LifeBook. The add-on
driver is used to configure the external display when connected.
