do I install the security application on my E-6595 Series LifeBook?

Security Buttons
LifeBook E-6595 Series with Security Panel offers security
function for system boot up and extra hardware security.
The four numeric programmable application launch buttons
can be set as the system boot up password, more than 800,000
sets of password.
NOTE:
To protect the interest of our customer, please note that the
Supervisor password cannot be removed by any means and by end-user.
Fujitsu reserved the right and do not disclose the system security
code. To remove the Supervisor password, kindly send in your
notebook or contact our warranty helpdesk for arrangement, please
note that the service is chargeable.
Installing Supervisor
Security Applications
1.
Run /setup.exe from the CD
under a folder security.
2.
The Security Panel Application
for Supervisor will be launched, click on Next and follow
the instructions to install the application.
3.
When the setup has finished,
please read the Software Instruction, "Readme - Notepad"
carefully:

To set your supervisor password,
launch Run window from start menu. Type FJSECS in Open
box and click OK.
5.
The Security Panel Application
will be launched. Click next to continues.
6.
Enter your Supervisors password
(PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THIS), click next to continue, the
program will request confirmation of your password.
7.
Install the User
Security after you have set your Supervisor password.
Run /fjsecu.exe under the folder /security.

will be launched, click Next and follow the instructions
to install the application.

When the setup has finished,
please read the Software Instruction, "Readme - Notepad"

DO NOT FORGET THIS), click next to continue, the program

To Change or remove a password,
run the application again. Launch the Security application
from start menu as shown below.

Select the option you wish
to perform and follow instructions as provided.
How
do I switch off the power of my LifeBook E-xxxx series when
it is in "Suspend" mode?

The LifeBook E-xxxx series
share the same button for Power on and off, Suspend and Resume
switches. To Suspend your machine, press the button once and
release. If your machine is "hung" (do no response to any keystrokes
or mouse actions), while the power indicator is steadily on,
press the button for about 5-6 seconds, release when the screen
turn off.
Note: The machine will automatically switch off, if it is properly
Shutdown in Windows. To properly shutdown in Windows, click
on Start/ Shutdown/ Shutdown
The
warranty for my LifeBook E-6530 has expired. What are the costs
for renewing the warranty for 2 and 3 years?

To extend your warranty
locally (in Singapore only), and obtain a 2nd and 3rd year carry-in
warranty the cost is S$1,550.00 (before GST). Alternatively,
a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year on-site warranty will cost S$1,850.00
(before GST). Kindly take note that expiry date will be based
on your original date of purchase. For example if your purchase
date is 4 March 2000, your 2nd and 3rd year carry-in/on-site
warranty will expire on 4 March 2003. If you are interested
in extending your warranty, you will need to visit the service
centre and have your machine diagnosed for a maximum of 2 days
before we will accept the contract.
The
Softex 'Bay Manager' software on my LifeBook E-6595 does not
work well after I upgraded to Windows XP (Traditional Chinese
version) from Windows ME (Traditional Chinese version). May
I upgrade this software?

In Windows XP, there
is a built-in feature for the 'Hotswap'. The 'Bay Manager' is
not supported by Windows XP. To use the 'Hotswap' on Windows
XP, you have to:
Click on the 'Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the
taskbar near the speaker icon.
Select the device you wish to terminate.
Click on 'Stop' and 'OK'.
You will see a message that says "Now is safe to
remove the hardware".
