On September 28, 2006, Sony Corporation announced a voluntary replacement program for certain Sony-made battery packs. In response to Sony's announcement, on September 30 Fujitsu Limited announced our decision to cooperate with Sony by offering voluntary replacement of the Sony-made battery packs in specified Fujitsu notebook PC models.
Customers outside of Japan who need to replace the Sony-made battery packs in their Fujitsu notebook PCs will be able to access information regarding replacement procedures on our country and regional portal websites (see list at http://www.fujitsu.com/global/worldwide/) at a later date. Details on the posting of this information will be provided later on the respective country/regional websites. Please note that this voluntary replacement program covers the specified Sony-made battery packs only; the notebook PCs themselves will not be replaced.
Based on the additional information that we have received from Sony, we have, at this time, revised the list of Fujitsu notebook PCs that are subject to this voluntary replacement program. Customers are advised to confirm whether their PC model is included in the program by reviewing the revised list and explanations below.
Sony has stated in its announcements that the potential for battery packs to overheat may be affected by variations in the system configurations of different notebook computers. We have received confirmation from Sony that, based on its investigations, no particular problems have occurred involving Fujitsu notebook PCs with the indicated Sony-made battery packs, since the system configurations of our notebook PC models are different from those of Dell’s and Apple Computer’s products.
We will provide customers with further information regarding the use of Fujitsu notebook PCs which are subject to the battery replacement program during the period prior to replacement as soon as we receive updates of such information from Sony. While we have made repeated inquiries to Sony, we have not received any updates as of this time.
For your reassurance, we reiterate that, as of this time, we are not aware of any instances of battery pack problems involving Fujitsu notebook PCs similar to those that have been announced by Dell and Apple Computer.

Please follow the steps below to check whether your battery pack is subject to the voluntary replacement program.
• Check the model name of your PC. To identify the model name of your computer, please check the label on the bottom of your computer
• If it is one of the models listed below, check the part number (P/N) and lot number of the installed battery pack.
