Customers will reap greater benefits like
improved manageability and security features
Singapore, October 29, 2002 Fujitsu
has rebranded and streamlined its desktop personal computer lines
into a single, global design and development platform in response
to corporate IT consumer trends. The latest DESKPOWER desktop
PCs and all future DESKPOWER models will share similar design
blueprints which will make it easier to develop security and serviceability
features. The global platform will also enable Fujitsu to build
machines which incorporate the latest technologies essential for
enterprises to conduct business operations.
Mr Alex Leung, COO, Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific, said: A hallmark
of all Fujitsu products is the strict control and supervision
of the manufacturing of all our products. Bringing together the
design and conceptualisation processes on a single platform ensures
a faster reaction time to technology advances and changing customer
needs. The standardisation of components also make the DESKPOWER
a highly expandable and easily customisable desktop PC for companies,
thereby decreasing their total cost of ownership.
The interlinked nature of businesses, homes and offices around
the world has resulted in growing demand for globally compatible,
compliant computer systems. By consolidating its PC development
under a single structure, Fujitsu is able to focus on giving its
customers some of the most advanced and adaptable personal computing
products. The new DESKPOWER PCs will capitalise on the combined
engineering, design and manufacturing expertise of Fujitsu Siemens
and Fujitsu, bringing together Japanese innovation and European
product specialisation.
A global platform will also give customers access to a well-developed
technological and customer support infrastructure that is able
to respond quickly to changing market trends and requirements.
Knowledge, insight and experience gained in one region will be
quickly shared by all global teams, enabling the most efficient
and effective use of the wealth of product knowledge generated
by Fujitsus product development specialists. The end result
is a range of global desktop PCs that are appealing and immensely
useful.
Mr Leung said: This global development platform is about
more than just economies of scale. It is about creating the most
innovative, useful and appealing products possible, making full
use of the expertise and experience Fujitsu has accumulated over
the past few decades in making computers that people desire. Ultimately,
it is about recognising and giving our customers what they truly
need from personal computing products.
Fujitsus commitment to quality and reliability is evident
in the design of the new DESKPOWER P300 and N300, and the DESKPOWER
C600 . Besides the improved processor components, the new desktop
PCs have been designed with ingenious security and serviceability
features like tool-less access to PC components, silent storage
drives (which reduce overall noise and heat emission) and AGP
slots.
DESKPOWER P300 and N300
The DESKPOWER P300 (Microtower) and N300 (Desktop) are professional
PCs designed for everyday use in small networks. Fujitsu understands
that companies have different computing needs, and that there
is no one size fits all model that works. With the
DESKPOWER P300 and N300, Fujitsu has taken its built-to-order
concept even further. Long product life cycles mean that there
is more reliable, long-term investment protection for companies
using the DESKPOWER PCs. Standardised components used in the new
models allow Fujitsu to build and deliver obsolete-proof customised
systems that are easier to use, service and upgrade.
Added Security and Serviceability
The single global design of the DESKPOWER PCs has resulted in
a host of serviceability features that make the PCs simpler to
use and maintain. The DESKPOWER P300 and N300 feature a housing
that can be opened tool-less with just a single push. Users can
then directly access important parts like the memory module, hard
disk, processor, PCI and AGP cards of the DESKPOWER P300 and N300
via unique Fujitsu features like EasyChange (tool-less access
to hard disk drives), FlexySlots (flexible extension slots for
the addition of standard PCI/AGP cards), and EasyPull, which is
simply an adapter for the easy pull-out of IDE cables.
The DESKPOWER P300 has been designed with a one-button push mechanism
which opens the cabinet housing. Separate clefts for Kensington
locks and padlocks have also been built into the housing of both
DESKPOWER models for better security.
Innovative Cooling System
A special air channel called AirTunnel was developed
by Fujitsu to ensure optimum air supply. This advanced cooling
concept directs air currents over the major PC components (including
the memory module, processor), thus ensuring better airflow within
the system. This results in lower heat emission, hence prolonging
the lifespan of the PC.
