Singapore May 21, 2001- Fujitsu,
leading manufacturer of computer products, has leveraged
on the latest innovation in the PC industry to showcase
its flagship technology machine, the DESKPOWER 8000. The
new release of DESKPOWER 8000 builds up on Fujitsu's commitment
to fast delivery of the latest in PC technology and innovation
to users that demand only top-level performance from their
machines.
For a start, the DESKPOWER 8000 will provide incredible
performance through Intel® Pentium®
4 processor with speeds of up to 1.7GHz. To complement the
performance of Intel®'s fastest processor,
Fujitsu has thrown in the latest features to enhance the
raw 1.7GHz processing power. This is done through inclusion
of the Intel® 850 chipset that supports 4x
AGP graphics, a 400MHz bus with Netburst Technology
and memory size of up to 1024MB.
With the inclusion of the RADEON AGP Double Data Rate (DDR)
graphics card, power users of the DESKPOWER 8000 will be
further treated to faster and more effortless video rendering
and 3D games. The card will also enhance multimedia capabilities
as DDR renders high performance allowing two data operations
in one clock cycle - providing twice the throughput of SDRAM.
Additionally, the 128MB RDRAM also increases PC headroom
for memory-intensive applications like data mining and massive
number crunching.
Altec Lansing speakers are also bundled in together with
the DESKPOWER 8000 to enhance the effect of 3D games and
multimedia applications.
Another engineering feat that is present on the DESKPOWER
8000 is that Fujitsu has managed to free up yet another
slot space. This augurs well with what corporations today
are demanding: higher expandability and scalability.
In addition, the integrated network interface card ensures
that deployment of the DESKPOWER 8000 series on the office
LAN is almost immediate since most features are integrated
on board. Users of DESKPOWER 8000 can maximise the available
5 expansion slots for add-on cards to run productivity accessories
like scanner cards, tape drives and zip drives. The network
interface card supports 10/100Mbps with Wake-on LAN and
Alert-on LAN features. Network security is further enhanced
through the Intel® 850 chipset, which performs encryption
and authentication through its integrated IPSEC accelerator.
In view of the high-level processing that is expected from
this high-productivity machine, Fujitsu has included a combo
drive with DVD-ROM and CD-R/RW functions. To further support
this functionality, mega storage options are available on
the DESKPOWER 8000 machines. Users have an option of up
to 60GB of storage space on the Ultra DMA/100 and S.M.A.R.T
support hard disk drive.
